Green sky, orange clouds, purple rain presents new and recent artworks from Meanjin/Brisbane artist Jordan Azcune. Fascinated with colour, optics, and spirituality, his artworks relate to the natural world, the body, and architecture. This exhibition will explore Azcune’s personal connection to the Redlands Coast, having grown up in the area, and will reinterpret local built and natural environments, with a focus on eccentric and religious architecture.
Azcune will use his signature material of beeswax as the basis to explore abstracted hyper-coloured patterns and low relief. His semi-spiritual works adopt processes of casting that are drawn from both baptismal practices and environmental forces. The cast wax works will be paired with metals to present camp offerings that captivate and intrigue.
