Jordan Azcune/ Raw Prawn
Essay by Erika Scott

‘Raw Prawn’ looks at new sculptural and installation works by Brisbane based artist Jordan Azcune. With an artistic process obsessed with play, Azcune is able to create visually jarring assemblages and lop sided landmarks. Influenced by German romanticism and expressionist theory, Azcune explores symbology, narrative, colour theory and classicalism. With no defined rules these visual concoctions connect to the artists personal fixations on Russian ballet, geography, silk, gardening, every day absurdity and colour.

Jordan Azcune will be completing his Bachelor of Fine Art (visual art) Honours degree in 2016 and has previously shown work at GOMA, Griffith Art Gallery(Gold Coast) QUT’s CIP Parer Place and TAH Gallery(Cleveland).
