Joseph Breiker’s first solo exhibition at Metro Arts commences an exciting year for the Galleries Program in 2011.
An exploration into the place of humour in contemporary visual art, Joseph will utilise drawing, painting, mixed media sculpture, sound and video as he seeks to unlock the creative and critical capacity of the visual artist as a ‘mystical distributor of meaning’.
Joseph has previously held solo exhibitions with ARIs including Brisbane’s Boxcopy and No Frills*, Sydney’s db project as well as Hervey Bay Regional Gallery. He has been featured in group exhibitions with NextWave in Melbourne, QUT Art Museum, Queensland State Library and Accidentally Annie Street Space. As a curator and co-curator, Joseph has worked with Boxcopy, QUT Art Museum, TC Burns Retail Centre and Melbourne’s Federation Square.
