Kate Bernauer is a photographic artist based in Brisbane Australia. She was born in a tin shed by a creek in northern New South Wales on April the 23rd, 1975. It was a completely clear day except for the tiniest of storm clouds, which, moments after her arrival let out a small thunderclap.
In 2006 she was awarded a Bachelor of Photography from Griffith University’s Queensland College of the Arts. She majored in Photographic Art Practice under the guidance of Ray Cook, Marian Drew and Jay Younger. Predominantly a photographic artist, she has also worked as a Cinematic Designer for the video games industry. Kate is currently working on the new project ‘I Need a Compass Not an Anchor’ as a part of an Australia Council for the Arts ‘New Work Grant’.
