Khaled Sabsabi: Recent Work

Deadline:

6 June
-
June 27
Milani Gallery

Milani Gallery presents Recent Work, an exhibition of new paintings, drawings, and textiles by acclaimed Australian artist Khaled Sabsabi.

The exhibition follows Sabsabi’s presentation of two major new installations at the 61st Venice Biennale: khalil, presented at the Arsenale as part of In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh, and conference of one’s self at the Australia Pavilion in the Giardini. Included in the exhibition are significant preparatory works connected to these international projects, offering insight into the artist’s process and evolving practice.

Working across a diverse range of media, Sabsabi’s work explores themes of spirituality, identity, memory, migration, and collective experience. Through painting, drawing, textiles, video, and installation, he creates contemplative spaces that encourage reflection on interconnected histories and contemporary social realities.

This exhibition provides Brisbane audiences with an opportunity to engage with recent developments in Sabsabi’s practice following his major presentations on one of the world’s most significant contemporary art platforms.
