Miniature is an exhibition of new work that continues Kinly Grey’s study of light phenomena as metaphysical inquiry. Developed for Boxcopy, this body of work plays with the mutability and enchantment of the world through its optical image. Through the lens, Miniature explores magnification as fodder for imaginative perception, offering a world released from its obligation to fixed scale.
Kinly Grey engages sensory experience and expanded poetics to explore art as affect. Based in Meanjin (Brisbane), Kinly has produced public works in locations including the Queen St Mall, Enoggera Reservoir, and Mt Coot-tha. In 2018 they were artist in residence at Metro Arts, producing major solo exhibition, slow burn. Kinly has exhibited with various galleries and ARIs including The Walls Art Space, Byron School of Art, people+artist+place, CLUTCH Collective, and Cut Thumb. Kinly graduated with First Class Honours from Queensland University of Technology in 2014.
