The finalists for the 2017 Lethbridge 10 000 Small Scale Art Award have now been selected and the artists are now preparing their artworks to send to the gallery for the exhibition.

For the eighth year, Lethbridge Gallery has supported artists and held the Award offering $10 000 prize money to the winner.

The exhibition will showcase a variety of artworks all measuring less than 60cm in diameter, by emerging and mid-career Australian artists and are priced to be very affordable to the buyer. It creates a unique opportunity to see and buy the artists of tomorrow.

“We tried be as diverse and inclusive as our small exhibition space will allow” commented Brett with regards to the artwork selected for the gallery exhibition. The Award also includes an online gallery of artworks selected from the entrants into the competition.

This year the gallery is pleased to announce their ongoing partnership with Art Shed Brisbane who are sponsoring the category prizes in this year’s Award. This will comprise of five $300 vouchers for art materials at the Art Shed.

The exhibition opening event will take place on 10 June 2017 with the announcement of the winner and presentation of the prizes in the evening. The opening night proves to be the biggest night of the exhibition year for the gallery with hundreds of people in attendance for the chance to see and buy a great collection of artworks from emerging artists and to enjoy the excitement and anticipation of the build up to the announcement of the winner.

The catalogue of gallery finalists and online artists can be viewed on the Lethbridge Gallery website from 5 June 2017. Opening event: 10th June 2017
