The biennial Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award is a national prize established in 1981 to promote and support talented young emerging artists in Australia. Initiated by the Lane Cove community in honour of its long term resident Dr Lloyd Rees, the award has a total prize pool of $7,500, the main award being an acquisitive prize of $5,000 and a curated solo exhibition in the following year at Gallery Lane Cove. Applications are open to 18-30 year old artists Australia-wide in the mediums of painting, drawing and printmaking.
The prize will be judged by a panel of three experts, lead by Guy Warren AM, OAM with two others to be announced in September.
Applicants have the option of submitting one entry with a fee of $35 or two entries at $70. Further details, including artwork dimensions and submission process can be found in the Terms & Conditions document here.
