Welcome back – to the 2020 Mad Hatter’s Festival – Celebrating creativity, community and connection

The Festival is a showcase for the achievements, talents and creativity of artists with a lived experience of mental health issues. The Festival brings their art to new audiences – and provides opportunities for artists and art groups to share their creative vision and build new connections with the community.

2020 is the second year of the Festival. Developing a program this year has been challenging – for months the impact of COVID-19 made planning and confirmation of public events such as exhibitions and community gatherings literally impossible. But with the easing of restrictions we decided to seize the opportunity and press ahead.

This year’s program has been scaled back to meet the current restrictions. Be assured that the Festival is extremely conscious of ensuring COVID safe guidelines are followed and social distancing observed at all the program events.

I invite you to drop in to view one of the exhibitions, drop in to the artist book launch, join lovers of photography at FotoJam or attend and contribute to the community forum on Saturday October 24.Meet a local artist, have conversations about art and mental health, and help us celebrate the role of art in fostering creativity, community, connection – and well being.

The Festival acknowledges the generous support of Brisbane City Council – and the award of a Creative Sparks Grant to support the 2020 Festival program. Without this grant the 2020 Festival would not have been possible.

The Festival also acknowledges the enthusiastic and generous support of the artists, local business, community organisations – and you. Thank you all for your wonderful support.

The 2020 Mad Hatter’s Festival is proud to be part of Queensland Mental Health Week 2020
