Celebrating 70 years of creativity and innovation, Make, Believe, Magic: The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company is an exclusive-to-Brisbane exhibition exploring the world-building, imaginative storytelling and puppetry of The Jim Henson Company.
Founded by Jim and Jane Henson in 1955, The Jim Henson Company has created some of the most recognisable characters and fantasy worlds in screen history, including Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, the Muppets and Sesame Street.
The world-first exhibition will feature the Great Hall set from Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, offering audiences a behind-the-scenes look at a working puppeteer’s film set. Hundreds of objects will be presented, including practical puppets, animatronic creatures, props, costumes, original drawings and moving image clips.
The exhibition traces the Company’s development from practical puppetry to contemporary animatronic and digital innovations, alongside its ongoing work in creature design and on-screen puppeteering.
Three free film programs will screen at GOMA’s Australian Cinémathèque throughout the exhibition, alongside QAGOMA public, learning and access programs.
Admission: Timed-entry tickets $18–$42. Day-pass Flexi and 5-visit Multi Pass tickets also available. Advance booking recommended.
