Continuing the 2026 Making Of series, Outer Space and Griffith University Art Museum present an evening exploring the career of Richard Bell, one of Australia’s significant contemporary artists.
The series invites established arts professionals and artists to reflect on their early career experiences, significant opportunities, creative processes and the decisions that have shaped their practices.
Richard Bell (b. 1953, Charleville) lives and works in Brisbane and works across painting, installation, performance and video. His practice explores complex artistic and political questions surrounding Western, colonial and Indigenous art production, with a longstanding commitment to Aboriginal emancipation and self-determination.
Bell has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, including at Tate Modern, documenta fifteen, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, the National Gallery of Canada and the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.
