Jugglers Artspace

Please join us at Jugglers Art Space for the opening of the Finalists Exhibition for the 2016 Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing. Now in its 7th year, this year’s prize attracted over 200 entries from all over Australia and our judges have worked hard to select the 25 Finalists from a strong and diverse field of work.

The Exhibition opens at 6pm Friday 5th August and the Major Prize Winners will be announced at 8pm. Voting for the People’s Choice Award commences with the opening event and continues for the duration of the exhibition. The People’s Choice winner will be announced at the closing event on 26th August.

The judging panel for 2016 includes: Jeff Hopkins-Weise, Sam Eyles, Jeremy Eden (2015 Major Prize Winner) and Charlotte Tegan.

Our selected finalists for 2016 are: Aleta Lederwasch, Alex Louisa, Alison Parkinson, Amy Dynan, Andrew Quilty, Caity Reynolds, Carolyn V Watson, Cathy Drew, Courtney Spence, Domenica Hoare, Elena Holzworth, Hesam Fetrati, Jude Roberts, Kristian Fracchia, Laura Kennedy, Leigh Camilleri, Liana Evans, Mark Feiler, Megan Tan, Melissa Boughey, Michael Armstrong, Michael Simms, Oksana Waterfall, Sean Hutton and William Platz.

The Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing was established to encourage excellence in drawing as an important foundation for any arts practice. The Prize aims to perpetuate the memory of Marie Corella Ellis OAM (1918-2003) – a long-time resident of Fortitude Valley – her love of art and dedication to helping others in her community.

Jugglers is grateful to the proud sponsors of this year’s Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing: Hopkins-Weise Family, Oxlades Art Supplies, The ARCS Group & 4 Pines Brewing Company.

Jugglers Art Space and this project are supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
