MELT

Deadline:

Brisbane Powerhouse

During MELT the walls of Brisbane Powerhouse will come alive with imagery from a diverse range of artist. The space will be transformed by the MELT group art show, which features the film work of Lz Dunn, and the mixed media art work of Ray Cook and Tyza Stewart.

LZ DUNN: REINTRODUCING JOANNA JONES

Take a glimpse into the life of Joanna Jones, aka John Dobbins whose performance career spanned the early era of Melbourne’s drag scene. An ongoing collaboration between John and multi-media artist Lz Dunn, this fascinating film project aims to remember and document fragments of Joanna’s repertoire.

RAY COOK:  IF YOU CAN’T SAY SOMETHING NICE ABOUT ANYONE, COME SIT NEXT TO ME

Reflect on moments of darkness and light in this exhibition informed by Ray Cook’s career of work inspired by the ever-changing face of queer culture. As history informs a new narrative, Cook imagines what this mad world might bring into being.

TYZA STEWART FIELD OF UNTITLE

Explore identity through art in this exhibition of self-portraits that uses image manipulation to experiment with gender modification. Using numerous processes including painting, staging and digitally editing reference photos, Stewart questions society’s fixation on binary notions of gender.

We recommend these exhibitions are suitable for 18+.
