The Meridian Award is an independent international award offering a $1,000 unrestricted cash prize to one contemporary artist working in any medium.
Founded in New York City, the award supports independent and self-directed practices, recognising artists whose work demonstrates originality, clarity, and a distinct voice within the contemporary art landscape. Open to artists worldwide aged 18 and over, the award places no restrictions on background, location, or professional status.
Submissions are assessed through a juried review process, focusing on artistic merit, coherence, and the strength of each artist’s unique perspective. There are no thematic constraints, allowing applicants to present work that best reflects their practice.
In addition to the $1,000 prize, the selected winner and two finalists will receive international exposure through a featured interview and promotion across the Meridian Award platform.
Applicants may submit up to five works (images and/or video), alongside an artist statement, artwork description, and biography. Submissions span a wide range of disciplines including painting, drawing, digital art, sculpture, photography, printmaking, textiles, performance, sound, video, and interdisciplinary practices.
