Merinda Davies: SYMBIOTIC MARATHON

SYMBIOTIC MARATHON is a new exhibition by Merinda Davies that imagines an exercise program for a future shaped by ecological collapse. Set in a speculative world where breathable air is no longer guaranteed for humans or plants, the project invites audiences to consider relationships of mutual dependence through breath, movement, and connection with more-than-human life.

Through installation, performance and speculative inquiry, Davies asks how we might cultivate ecological kinship and shared survival in increasingly uncertain environmental conditions. Rather than running for fitness or escape, participants are encouraged to imagine movement as an act of care, reciprocity and collective endurance.

Davies is an artist, performer and curator whose practice explores how humans might thrive within the realities of environmental change. Drawing on sensory experience, embodiment and future-world building, her work investigates relationships between people, landscapes and other living beings. Her projects have been presented by institutions including HOTA, Metro Arts, Institute of Modern Art, Moreton Bay Regional Gallery and Arts Northern Rivers.
