Applications are open for the Metropolitan Fukujusou Artist Residency, a Kyoto-based international residency offering artists the opportunity to live and work within a 200-year-old traditional Kyo-Machiya townhouse.
Designed for artists interested in Japanese culture, minimalism and slow living, the residency encourages participants to embrace a simple way of life while developing new work. Residents have access to private accommodation and shared studio facilities at Studio Tsukimisou, where regular open studios, exhibitions and workshops foster connections with Kyoto’s local arts community.
Located in Kyoto’s renowned Okazaki cultural precinct, the residency is within walking distance of major museums, galleries, theatres and cultural institutions, providing an inspiring environment for artists working across visual art, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, photography, new media and interdisciplinary practice.
