WHEN : 2nd – 12th May / Opening 2nd May, 6:00pm
WHERE : The Box
In his May exhibition at The Box, local Artist Michael McCosker seeks to take his viewers beyond the vibrant café culture of his suburb, and into a more enduring look at the place so many have loved.
It’s about “Ongoing parts of the land; moments that keep happening – the daily brilliance of a sunset on Corbett st or the Brisbane State High School students spilling out onto Vulture St every afternoon in a sea blue and white.”
McCosker’s post-colonial landscapes reveal contemporary West End as more than just a hotbed of artists and urban professionals, but rather as a longstanding home to working class and migrant families.
The QCA Fine Arts Graduate, who first discovered his affinity for oil painting while living in Tasmania, has yet to be seen by his hometown audience.
