This November in Gallery 1 we are presenting paintings by Robert Hunter, including work from the artist’s last completed series. Each work is drawn from his recent NGV survey exhibition, spanning four decades of his practice.
In Gallery 2, Dale Harding presents work made during a residency with the Sharjah Art Foundation in July of this year. Untitled (Private Painting H1) was made with Harding’s cousin Hayley Matthew, and reflects upon and enacts Aboriginal cultural continuum via the context of contemporary art. Alongside this painting are a series of glass portraits made with native tree sap. In Gallery 3 Harding is presenting a new video installation.
In CARPARK Nicholas Aloisio-Shearer’s exhibition Another Nightmare explores the connections between historical photographic processes and contemporary 3D imaging, drawing out the erotic, disturbing and banal elements of video game images. The works appear to show traditional photographic subject matter, portraits and still lifes, but reveal themselves to be computer-generated models of plants, weapons and faces replicated from popular fantasy role playing video games.
