‘Drop of a Hat’ presents Miri Badger’s recent series of representational paintings depicting objects of adornment and decoration. Meticulously painted with an emphasis on colour composition, these collaged artworks speak to the ways in which we represent our interior selves through exterior expressions and symbols. In this way these works can be seen to serve as self-referential portraits. Depictions of hats and headdresses are repeated throughout the series. This stems from Badger’s interest in the role such garments historically played in signifying a person’s status and power, as well as being an expression of un-functional playfulness.

Please join us at Grey Street Gallery for the CLOSING EVENT on Thursday the 15th July from 5.30pm – 8.30pm. (Please register )
