Mono 57: Merzbow

Deadline:

26 February
-
Institute of Modern Art

Mono 57 presents a live performance by Merzbow, widely regarded as a foundational figure in noise music. With a practice spanning nearly five decades, Merzbow’s concerts are immersive, full-spectrum sonic events—dense, visceral, and physically affecting.

Merzbow is joined by Lawrence English, whose work explores the edges of harmonic ambience and low-energy sound pressure, creating charged, atmospheric sound environments.

Mono is the IMA’s long-running experimental sound program curated by Room40. Since 2006, it has brought boundary-pushing sonic practice to Brisbane/Meanjin, marking its 20th anniversary in 2026.
