Monochrome

Mitchell Fine Art presents Monochrome, an exhibition showcasing a striking collection of Aboriginal and contemporary artworks that forgo colour in favour of a bold black and white narrative.

Monochrome explores the interplay of contrast and harmony within these two shades, highlighting the depth and diversity of artistic expression. Each piece speaks through the universal language of opposites—black against white, light against shadow, simplicity against complexity.

Featuring works from renowned Aboriginal artists alongside leading contemporary creatives, this exhibition underscores the power of minimalism in art. By removing colour, the artworks amplify complex ideas, emotions, and narratives with remarkable impact.

“We are thrilled to present Monochrome, a stunning juxtaposition of traditional Aboriginal art forms and contemporary expressions, all using black and white to tell compelling and deeply nuanced stories,” says Mike Mitchell, Gallery Director.

Beyond individual artists, the exhibition serves as a testament to the versatility and adaptability of a monochrome palette in any space.

This carefully curated display features works by artists such as Carlos Barrios and Idris Murphy, alongside a monumental 2m x 3m painting by George Tjungurrayi.

The gallery is open six days a week: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, with onsite parking available.
