The Mudhouse Residency invites visual artists, writers, musicians and performers to undertake a two-week creative residency on the island of Crete, Greece, surrounded by the historic mountain village of Agios Ioannis.
Now entering its eleventh year, the artist-run residency offers three sessions across Summer 2026:
- 8–22 June 2026
- 29 June–13 July 2026
- 20 July–3 August 2026
Designed to foster focused creative practice, the residency provides private accommodation, studio facilities, daily shared meals, and opportunities to engage with an international community of artists. Residents are encouraged to present their practice through an artist talk, reading or presentation, culminating in a collaborative exhibition installed throughout the village and exhibition spaces.
Set within a restored medieval shepherds’ village overlooking the Libyan Sea, the program combines dedicated studio time with cultural experiences including archaeological tours, workshops and excursions exploring Crete’s rich artistic and historical landscape.
Full and partial fellowship opportunities are available through a competitive selection process.
