WHAT : Arts Business Training
WHERE : Youth Arts Queensland
The Navigation Arts Business Training program is a one week, accredited training course in arts business management for artists, which has been developed by artists who understand the demands of the industry.
In 2011, YAQ lead a complete overhaul of the resources, tools and workbook in response to the changing needs of young artists today. The program now works with Registered Training Organisation – Creating Links, to deliver the training and make sure the accredited side of things is excellent.
Training Manager, Katherine Quigley, recently inducted new trainers from right across the state to facilitate sessions in their local communities. “Navigation is about connecting with artists and inspiring them to do great things in their local areas and beyond, by skilling them up and giving them confidence to turn their ideas into a sustainable reality. It is really exciting to have a group of artists from accross Queensland working and skilling up as trainers to then go out and inspire their fellow artists across Queensland and make connections.”
Over the coming months, Navigation will be delivered across 12 locations state wide. These deliveries include; Cairns, Townsville, Palm Island, Mackay, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Ipswich, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Rockhampton, Gold Coast, Bundaberg & Toowoomba.
Once successfully completed, Navigation participants will have the confidence, knowledge and skills to operate their own micro business, lead their collective through complex projects, or work in an entry level position in an arts organisation.
“This (Navigation) is a fantastic opportunity to gain business arts training, if you’re under 30 you should be looking into this immediately! The information given is invaluable. We went through the training at the beginning of the year and lets just say… Amazing!” Made. Creative Space Toowoomba.
