Have an artwork idea perfect for the heart of Newtown? Newtown ArtSeat is inviting proposals for its 2027 exhibition program.
Located in Pride Square, this much-loved public art landmark showcases original work to thousands of people passing through Newtown each day.
Newtown ArtSeat offers a space where experimental and non-commercial art can be showcased. It is a permanent structure in Newtown’s Pride Square that combines public seating, artwork display and lighting.
What you get:
- $3,000 artist fee
- Artwork publicly displayed for three months
- Printing and installation managed by Council
Who can apply:
Artists and creative collaborations working across illustration, photography, poetry, text, and other practices that can be adapted to the format.
Expressions of interest for the 2027 exhibition program open 9am Monday 17 August 2026.
Applications must be submitted through the SmartyGrants application portal.
