A panel discussion on open source design

The open source movement is often positioned as having a major impact on the future of design and architecture; from democratising their development and usage, to undermining their financial viability. Open Exchange promises to tackle the big questions for these industries as the open source movement continues to swell.

Open Exchange is held in conjunction with the Burst Open exhibition at artisan, which has been curated by John de Manincor and Christian Duell as an exploration of open source design processes and business models. Our panel of experts will debate their analyses of this exploration and the complex issues surrounding open source design. This final event in the Burst Open project is a must-see for all designers, architects and actives consumers seeking to keep their finger on the pulse.

Panellists:

  • Timothy Moore – Director, SIBLING | former Editor of Architecture Australia & Volume
  • Neil Davidson – Design Director, Clandestine Design | Co-founder and Lecturer, Auxiliary Design School
  • Natalie Wright – Manager, Asia Pacific Design Library (SLQ)
  • Andrew D’Occhio – Director, D’Occhio (architects) | Exhibiting Designer, Burst Open

Chair: John de Manincor – Curator, Burst Open | Senior Lecturer, UQ School of Architecture | Director, The Architecture Office Pty Ltd.
