Blak Dot Gallery, in partnership with Channels Festival, are commissioning four First Nations artists to create new screen-based work to exhibit in the 2019 Channels Festival.
Applications are now open!
We encourage proposals from First Nations artists that encompass all new media, including single and multi-channel video works, Virtual Reality and experimental formats. We seek proposals that push boundaries and make innovative use of the gallery space.
Successful artists will be paid an artist fee of $1000 (including production costs).
About Blak Dot Gallery
Blak Dot Gallery is a contemporary Melbourne-based, Indigenous-run art gallery and performance space that showcases contemporary and traditional artworks from global Indigenous cultures. Since 2011 Blak Dot has built a strong reputation for presenting First Nations video works, including artists from Australia, New Zealand, Pacifica, PNG, Somalia, Jamaica, Johannesburg and India.

Selection and Key Dates
Submissions will be reviewed by a Selection Panel made up of representatives from Blak Dot Gallery and Channels Festival.
Applications close 5 June 2019.
The commissioned works will be exhibited at Blak Dot Gallery
22 August – 8 September 2019.
