Onespace Gallery

Onespace presents The Grass Tides, a solo exhibition by Paula Savage in the Main Gallery. Featuring woven works and works on paper, this exhibition marks Savage’s second presentation with the gallery and highlights her development as a senior artist at Moa Arts.

Growing up on Moa Island working lugger boats alongside her father and brothers, Savage taught herself the traditional ‘one twist’ weaving technique through careful observation rather than direct instruction. That process of self-learning and connection to culture remains central to her practice today.

In this new body of work, Savage translates the language of weaving into printmaking, using rhythmic strokes and gestural marks that echo woven forms. The exhibition traces her creative evolution and affirms her position as a leading contemporary Torres Strait Islander artist.

Opening Event: Saturday 7 March 2026, 5–7pm

Artist Talk: 4–5pm with Freja Carmichael
