Pep Talks: Yuriyal Bridgeman

Deadline:

September 24
Griffith University Art Museum

Join Griffith University Art Museum for a Pep Talk with Yuriyal Bridgeman, following his inclusion in the 18th Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale in France.

The event begins with a free BBQ in the QCAD Courtyard from 4:30–5:30pm, followed by an artist talk and Q&A from 5:30–7:00pm at Griffith University Art Museum.

Pep Talks offer an informal opportunity to hear from QCAD graduates about their artistic practice and career trajectory, including the advice they wish they had received along the way.

Born in Redcliffe, Queensland, Yuriyal Bridgeman completed a Bachelor of Photography at the Queensland College of Art & Design in 2008. His multidisciplinary practice spans photography, video, painting, sculpture and installation, exploring representation, belonging and the evolving role of cultural tradition within contemporary life.

Bridgeman’s practice is grounded in his Papua New Guinean heritage and connections to his maternal people, the Yuri tribe of the southern Simbu Province. He is also co-founder of the artist collective Haus Yuriyal and has participated in major exhibitions including the 11th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at QAGOMA.

In 2024–25, Griffith University Art Museum presented his mid-career survey exhibition Yuriyal Bridgeman: yubilong(mi)bilongyu.

Cost:
$15
Free for QCAD students with a valid student email.
