Sure Studio

Mixed media & photographic artist Phoebe Hofsteede presents Flora, Fauna, Fading; a remembrance of native animals, respectfully adorned with native fauna, reflecting the stories that lay within the cracks & fibres of their bones.

By combining imagery of Australian native animal remains with real pressed native flowers, Phoebe creates works that confronts the idea of death, accentuates life’s preciousness, and highlights the importance of preserving Australia’s native flora & fauna.

The works encourage the viewer to have empathy for our native creatures, question our relationship with them and our impact on the natural environment as a reminder that we are meant to be their guardians.

Preserved in repurposed antique picture frames, the works pose the question; will we one day look back on what used to be? Like dusty old antiques, fading, strange, yet familiar.

Opening night: 5th August 2022 – 6pm – 9pm

Exhibition Continues: 6th – 7th August 10am – 4pm
