Platform Residency invites artists to explore the evolving relationship between resistance and repair — not as fixed concepts, but as relational practices that respond to our fractured world. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly through making, reflecting, and being in process. This is not a results-based residency but rather a space for critical exploration, experimentation, and engagement.
Hosted by Platform, an artist-run initiative in Vaasa, Finland, the residency offers artists a self-contained apartment, private studio space, travel support (one return trip), a working grant (approx. €300 per week), and a €1000 production budget (reimbursed by receipts). Artists also have access to a bike, tools, equipment, and support from a local contact person throughout the stay.
Artists are required to spend at least 80% of their residency in Vaasa and are expected to give a public talk, workshop, or presentation during their stay. Platform does not offer formal exhibition space but will assist with any end-of-residency presentations the artist may wish to arrange. Communication must be in English, Swedish, or Finnish.
Residency duration can range from 1 to 3 months. Applications from duos are accepted
