Tender Turf explores the bonds between delicate, organic forms and industrial constructions in an urban environment. The choice to exhibit at Hassell Architects studio space in Fortitude Valley emphasises the relationship between the creative team behind QUT’s new Creative Industries Precinct and the QUT’s Visual Art students by displaying work brought to life in the new spaces. Industrial and natural elements are both apparent in the exhibition space through the concrete and brick structure and the central grass courtyard. These elements not only draw a connection to the exhibition title but also provide a foundation for the works of the 15 artists exhibiting in the show.
