Entries are opening soon for the 2026 Pro Hart Outback Art Prize, Broken Hill City Art Gallery’s largest annual exhibition and a major national acquisitive art prize celebrating artistic responses to the Australian outback.

Artists from across Australia are invited to submit works that reflect the spirit, beauty and complexity of the outback landscape. The prize accepts works in any medium, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation and digital art.

Named in honour of renowned Broken Hill artist Pro Hart, the prize recognises the region’s long-standing reputation as a centre of artistic activity and celebrates the legacy of Hart and his contribution to Australian art.

Prizes
First Prize: $20,000 acquisitive
Second Prize: $2,000
People’s Choice Award: $1,000
