Uncover and unpack artworks featured in ‘European Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York’.

Do you really have to suffer for your art? Or is the idea of the tortured artist not only an old cliché but a dangerous myth?

Discover the origin of the tormented genius trope and discuss whether this romanticised stereotype still lurks within the contemporary art world today. Hosted by art historian Dr Chari Larsson (Lecturer and Program Director Graduate Certificate and Master of Arts, Queensland College of Art Griffith University).

Free / Bookings required / Participant’s webcam and microphone will be disabled / The event will be recorded and made available on QAGOMA’s YouTube channel.
