We invite you to join us for QCA Thursdays, a series of QCA Galleries opening events that seek to broaden the art experience. This week, QCA Galleries are presenting the work of Kahli Perkins.
QCA Thursdays are a space for the presentation and interpretation of contemporary visual arts and design practice, and a site for gathering, conversation and learning. Waves appear in many forms: in the warmth of sunlight, in colour, in the swell of the ocean before it crashes on the beach. They are instruments playing to our senses that may be amplified, diminished or even annulled through interaction with a second wave that produces an ‘interference pattern’.
Perkins’ paintings are borne of a process that involves physically manipulating the canvases into waveforms prior to a subtle and gradual application of paint. Rhythmic and beguiling colours hum upon the works’ surfaces, superposing with the cacophonous present to offer moments of quietude and stillness.
