Held every three years with a changing theme, the R & M McGivern Prize is a $25,000 acquisitive painting prize. In 2019 the theme is the ‘Anthropocene’ and calls for artists across Australia to consider the impact of human habitation on the environment, including colonisation, industrialisation, geology and sustainability.
Rose Nolan was winner of the ‘text’ themed 2016 R & M McGivern Prize, pictured here with 2016 Judge, Victoria Lynn, Director, Tarrawarra Museum of Art, beneath her clever winning entry ‘Big words – QUOTE/UNQUOTE double version’, inspired by Russian Constructivism, architecture and language.
