Brisbane City Council is calling on Brisbane artists to submit an expression of interest for this year’s Recycling Art Competition before Monday 23 November 2015.
The Recycling Art Competition explores the creative potential of recycling household items and furniture, and inspiring others to see the possibility in things that may have otherwise have been thrown away.
The competition began in 2012 and was developed to encourage visitors to the Brisbane tip shops, which are a waste minimisation initiative designed to keep reusable furniture and household items out of landfill.
The tip shops in Acacia Ridge and Geebung are owned by Council and operated by The Endeavour Foundation, a non-government organisation that provides support and opportunities for people with a disability. 10 artists will be selected to create artwork which will be exhibited at the Shopfront, Judith Wright Centre for public voting to decide who wins a share of $4000 in prize money.
Selected artists have the opportunity to share an important message with the public about recycling and reuse of materials through creation of the art work. The promotion of you and your artwork within the Recycling Art Competition provides an opportunity to enhance both your artist portfolio and public profile.
