In this new object based installation, Ruth McConchie explores the links between personal histories, processual and material obsessions and specificities of site. Her project develops from a fascination with notions of privacy and secrecy in relation to space and examines the sensitivities and nuances of trespass and the illicit. For Standard Oil Company; He has prickles on his face, McConchie re-imagines and modifies the gallery to create a complex dialogue between arrangements of objects, forms and interconnected spaces.
Ruth McConchie is a visual artist currently based in Brisbane. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in 2008 and has commenced a Master of Arts by Research at Queensland University of Technology. She has exhibited at No Frills*, Accidentally Annie Street Space, Metro Arts Galleries (Brisbane), Blindside (Melbourne) and Firstdraft gallery (Sydney). McConchie is a co-director of inbetweenspaces, which recently developed work through the Kickstart program for the 2012 Next Wave Festival.
