Scott McDougall’s is known for his vivid hyperreal landscapes and his passion for colour and texture. Scott’s new exhibition ‘Chasing Beauty’ has seen his focus move to the interior and the feminine form.
“I have been chasing beauty in one form or another most of my painting life. I find it in the smallest of things – a curling arabesque of flaking paint, the soft fold of fabric, colour slowly leaching from an ancient wall, fine cracks lacing a rendered wall, verdigris, scrapes and scratches. It’s all scar tissue that stand witness to moments in time and history. Using this as a starting point I weave a narrative into my paintings.” – Scott McDougall.
Scott’s has been involved in a number of prestigious art prizes including the Wynne Prize, Tattersall’s Club Landscape Award, The Gold Coast prize, the Mosman Art Prize and the Sulman Prize. His artwork is featured in private collections internationally, and has exhibited throughout Australia, Scotland and Vietnam.
