Self Imag(in)ing

Deadline:

Project Gallery, QCA

Teetering on the precipice that is the history of self-portraiture and social media technology, three practitioners seek to explore the contemporary nature in which we navigate issues of identity, gender and corporeal experience through a perpetual state of self-imaging. Through the introduction of social media, the ways in which people interact with each other have forever been altered towards a visual plain where image is knowledge. Documenting the self comes as both fascination and primal urge, a fact unchanged by time and only altered in reach through the technological environment.
