As part of QAGOMA’s APT10, Queensland Museum has partnered with New Zealand artist Shannon Novak to host his Make Visible: Queensland work at South Bank called Biological Exuberance.
Seen in museums and galleries around the world, Novak’s practice creates spaces of safety and inclusion, while supporting recognition and visibility for LGBTQI+ communities.
Highlights include:
- The vivid and uplifting large scale installations ‘Modern Family’ in the Whale Mall
- ‘Rainbow Gene’ installation in the entry foyer on Level 2
- A new look at scientific illustrations from the 18th century in the Discovery Centre on Level 4 from butterflies, coral, fungi and jellyfish in ‘Reframing Biodiversity’
- A trail of special drawers in the Discovery Centre that celebrates diversity in the natural world.
