Ceramic Arts Queensland (CAQ) is thrilled to unveil the finalists for the prestigious Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence. This highly anticipated exhibition is a premier showcase of contemporary Australian ceramics, highlighting innovation and artistic excellence.

Since its inception in 2015, the Siliceous Award has gained national and international recognition, attracting an exceptional standard of entries from both established and emerging ceramic artists across Australia.

“Ceramic art extends well beyond the creation of functional objects. While technical proficiency is essential, it is the artist’s ability to imbue their works with distinctive ideas and emotions that distinguishes their creations,” said Dr Judith Hamilton, President of Ceramic Arts Queensland.

The Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence and the Gwyn Hanssen Pigott Wood Fired Ceramics Award winners will be announced at the exhibition’s opening night event on Saturday, 8 March 2025, at 6pm. The exhibition will run from 9 to 25 March 2025 at the Metcalfe Gallery, Brisbane Institute of Art. Entry is free, and all are welcome. Most artworks will be available for purchase, except for the Siliceous Award-winning piece, which will become part of CAQ’s permanent collection.
