Cut Thumb Laundry

Smaller Screens is a sample of experimental video artworks currently engaging with histories of video art. Artist include Janni Cox, Ben Crowley, Peter Kozak, Annie Macindoe and Claire Robertson. The works are not tied via thematics, instead unified by the screen, and installed in symbiosis within the space. Smaller screens questions how a heavy handed curatorial approach with video art can manipulate the viewer to engage with multiple screens in a space. Key video art theorist Margaret Morse argues that screens in a installation develop a conceptual world that manifests itself as literal objects and images that are set in relation to each other. The exhibition will play with familiar curatorial tropes used in curating video installation.
