Steve Lopes: Everyone’s Amazing

Deadline:

21 October
-
November 15
Mitchell Fine Art

Sydney-based artist Steve Lopes returns to Mitchell Fine Art with his latest solo exhibition, Everyone’s Amazing — a body of work that visually weaves together past and future, memory and imagination. Lopes’ complex figurative compositions are charged with emotion and layered meaning, drawing viewers into a world of narrative tension and quiet revelation.

Interspersed with hidden messages and painterly graffiti, each work hints at the mysteries within the human condition. “These works deal with our defiance of fate and our essential vulnerabilities,” Lopes reflects. “In the increasingly shattered world we find ourselves in, this is an intangible attempt to capture visually the very fleetingness of our being.”

A celebrated Australian painter, Lopes has exhibited widely across Australia and the UK. His work is held in major public and private collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House Art Collection, BHP Billiton Art Collection, and the Time Warner Collection, New York. He is a past winner of both the Gallipoli Art Prize and The King’s School Art Prize.
