Vaughn Pinxit’s Stillness: a meditation in new media art, determines through a practice-led research investigation, the proposition that it may be possible to use new media technologies and kinetic installations to create immersive environments that paradoxically evoke qualities of stillness.

Intimate insights for understanding stillness through the theoretical and practical experience of meditation, supports a philosophical position grounded in Engaged Buddhism and phenomenology, and has assisted the direction of practice-led research. Several interactive new media artwork installations, which encompass a performative element, create opportunities for audience engagement with stillness.
