Artist and well-known story book illustrator Philip Blythe will give a weekend workshop at The Petrie Terrace Gallery.
Philip’s many commissions include publications for HM Queen Elizabeth 11, British Telecom, Little Hare Books and many others. Philip has lectured at the University of Ulster, James Cook University and Griffith University.
Philip will demonstrate the procedure’s he follows in his own illustration practice. Participants will concentrate on painting and illustration techniques in depicting animals in their habitat. Philip will also supply line drawings taken from several of his artworks so that participants may directly follow his method in the creation of animals such as platypus and underwater background, turtles coming ashore in the moonlight or an eagle flying over a glacier. Participants will also be given the opportunity to create ideas from a given narrative forming animal characterization within an environment.
