Maria Minerva’s brand of ecstatic post-modern disco is dipped in the deepest echoes of reverb and consumer effects. Disregarded by those seeking hi-fidelity, it’s these transformative elements that have come to define her as something of a dancefloor visionary, a cherished provocateur of dirty groove. Her albums for the Not Not Fun label have been some of the most talked about releases from the Los Angeles based label and have branded Minerva as a songstress rogue of the highest order. Hailing from Estonia, she is one of the most vital voices rising from the euro-underground, a future queen feeding on VHS memories and other disconnected narratives.
Joining her for the show are Brisbane’s Blank Realm who continue to create some of the most powerful ‘colour noise’ as Tiny Mixtapes likes to call it. On the verge of unleashing a series of new releases, it’s a fine time to check in on the grand quartet of cosmic-hypno-pop.
