The Brothers Gruchy

Deadline:

6 February
-
March 22
Caloundra Regional Gallery

The Brothers Gruchy presents nine key artworks by acclaimed digital artists Tim and Mic Gruchy, exploring intersections between technological innovation and biological forms, human perception, artificial intelligence, and synaesthesia.

Raised in Bundaberg, brothers Tim and Mic Gruchy have worked both individually and collaboratively since the mid-1980s. This exhibition brings together key works from their shared practice across video, multimedia, and performative art, reflecting long-term collaborative experimentation.

Set within a contemporary technological landscape defined by hyper-communication and social networks, the artists present sensuous visions of an enhanced yet rapidly dissolving world. Their subject matter ranges from familial memory and Australian river systems to the environmental impacts of industry and the decaying remains of the Baoshan steelworks in Shanghai.

The exhibition is a touring project curated by Bundaberg Regional Galleries and presented in partnership with Museums & Galleries Queensland. It has been assisted by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
