With over 15 year experience and having created some of Australia largest public artworks, local artist Dan Templeman shares his learning, in the hope of encouraging more artists to step out of the confines of the gallery and into public space.
Dan Templeman has worked predominately in Public Art since 2004, with over 15 large-scale commissions that stretch from Perth to Melbourne to North Queensland, and recently into China. He has had the good fortune of working with some of Australia’s leading design teams, construction companies, fabricators, curators and consultants, including: Hassell Architecture, Cox Architecture, Creative Move, Brecknock Consulting, Creative Road, Urban Art Projects and most recently Cultural Capital on the WestConnex project.
Dan completed a Doctorate in Visual Arts with the Queensland College of Art in 2013 and has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally. He was the recipient of an Australian Post–Graduate Scholarship and was awarded the Queensland Art Gallery’s Melville Haysom Memorial Art Scholarship in 1997. Dan was award an Art Omi International Residency to up-state New York in 2008 and a Crane Arts Residency in 2013.
