The Story So far…

Deadline:

Redsea Gallery

REDSEA Gallery is pleased to present a new exhibition by New Zealand artist Ross Jones.
This represents Ross’s first exhibition in Australia.

Jones style encapsulates the art of storytelling. He loves to distort the light and capture that
moment in time. They are a mixture of seemingly perfect places and events, but like all
good stories, not everything is as it seems. Shadows create just enough intrigue to tip the
balance between a serene or sinister scene. The result is just enough information in the
composition to engage the viewer. From there it’s up to viewer to fill in the gaps and create
their own story.

Born in 1966, Ross Jones was raised in Otaki, a small town located north of Wellington in
New Zealand and was a graduate of the Wellington School of Design.

After years of experimenting with different media and techniques, Jones arrived at a style
that encapsulates his ideas, composition and colour palette. His very own version of
everyday life – of paradise recalled.

Ross’s paintings are held in Public Collections in New Zealand and Private collections in
England, Ireland, North America, Australia and New Zealand. These collections include
Bank of America Merrill Lynch, The Wall Street Journal, Time Inc, Penguin Books and
Wellington Art Gallery.

Lee Steer, Managing Director, REDSEA Gallery, “Ross is one of New Zealand’s most
talented Fine Artist’s, in every sense. His work exudes precision, from the paintings
creation all the way through to its completion. His work has a timeless and romantic
quality, that takes each viewer on their very own personal journey. I’m very excited
about holding Ross’s first solo Exhibition in Australia here at REDSEA Gallery”

“The Story so far…” opens to the public on Tuesday 10th June at REDSEA Gallery,
James Street and will run for three weeks to Sunday 6th July. To be included on the
guest list for the opening night event on Saturday 14th June please email your name
