Ties that Bind brings together leading Australian artists to explore the many ways people connect to home, Country, memory and one another. Through diverse contemporary practices, the exhibition considers belonging as something shaped by place, ancestry, migration, displacement and lived experience.
Rather than presenting a single idea of home, the exhibition reveals it as both a physical and emotional landscape—formed through relationships, histories, care and resilience. Collectively, the artworks examine how identity is carried across generations and how personal and shared stories continue to shape our understanding of place.
Featuring works by Michael Cook, Fernando do Campo, Lionel Fogarty, Julie Fragar, Rubaba Haider, C. Moore Hardy, Juanita McLauchlan, Deb Mostert, Izabela Pluta, Sangeeta Sandrasegar, Sancintya Mohini Simpson and William Yang, Ties that Bind offers a thoughtful reflection on the enduring threads that connect people to Country, culture and community.
